Off-Road Trails Near Greensboro, NC

Badin Lake OHV Complex

You’ll find these off-road trails near Raleigh, NC in Uwharrie National Forest. The complex is a little over an hour south of Greensboro. It’s the only OHV trail system in the Piedmont, and it's a whole lot of fun. After purchasing a day or annual pass, you can take your 4x4 vehicle on 17 miles of trails. These trails range from easy to extremely difficult, according to the US Forest Service, and those designated for motorized traffic are marked with orange diamond markers. Visit the Forest Service’s webpage on this area to find hours, nearby amenities, and important safety information.

Brown Mountain OHV Trail System

Head to the mountains to find this trail system, the only area designated for OHVs in Pisgah National Forest. Brown Mountain is a little over two hours west of Greensboro, so you can easily make it there and back in a day. This area has 34 miles of trails, but Jeeps and other 4x4 vehicles are only allowed on Trail 8 and part of Trail 1. There are campsites nearby, so this is a great activity to do on a camping trip to the Blue Ridge Mountains. Visit the Forest Service’s webpage on this area to find hours, nearby amenities, and important safety information.

Hurricane Creek Off-Road Trail

This trail is a little different from the previous two, as it’s not part of a national forest. Hurricane Creek is located about four hours from Greensboro, near the small town of Clyde (just west of Asheville). This trail is 6.3 miles long and accessible via westbound Interstate 40. With tight spots, twists, and turns, we recommend taking on this trail if you have some off-roading experience.

In order to earn its Trail Rated® badge, the Wrangler had to pass a series of strenuous off-road tests that challenged every facet of its design. Want to take extra camping gear along with you? Step up to the new 2024 Jeep Gladiator and you’ll have all the capabilities of the Wrangler with added bed space for your gear.

Considering a different Jeep model? The Grand Cherokee, Cherokee, Compass and Renegade have available 4x4 systems as well, and select trims have passed the Trail Rated® test. If you’d rather buy pre-owned, you’ll find a used Jeep Wrangler for sale that fits your needs here at our dealership, as well as a variety of other used vehicles.
